Kimberly Sturm, M.A.
Founder + CEO

For as long as she can remember, Kim’s dear mother instilled in her the importance of helping other beings in need. It’s carried through to adulthood and is reflected in every aspect of her career. 

Kim holds a undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and a Master's in Counseling Psychology.  After a decade as Director of Social Services within several dementia communities, Kim took a leap of faith and combined her education with her passions and launched KBS Collaborative in 2011. She wanted the freedom to develop something more innovative and accessible than anything else in San Diego. Kim was guided by her desire to assist families and animals in even the most difficult situations around the globe. 

In addition to her passion for her work with KBSC, Kim adores outdoor activities, international travel, and cooking meals with family & friends.

Veronica Perez
Bilingual Care Manager

Veronica has been focused on high patient-family satisfaction within the health care industry for 15+ years. She is bilingual, speaking fluently in both English and Spanish.

Veronica’s experienced skillset is an invaluable asset to the KBS Collaborative team by aiding our reach to clients across diverse cultural backgrounds..  

She is an expert in direct care including patient education, referrals to appropriate community agencies, and coordinating discharge services such as physical therapy, placement, and home health.

Outside of work, Veronica enjoys being a mom and spending quality time with her large extended family.

Samantha Carlton
Care Manager

Samantha obtained her B.S. in Kinesiology with a minor in Nutrition. She is an expert in creating and implementing both physical therapy & dietary plans for our clients.

She is affiliated with UCSD's dietary department and has assisted in the implementation of their latest programming, focused in Personalized Nutrition.

Samantha is a long-time volunteer for the Human Society and her head-shots of adoptable animals have been published in San Diego Pet Magazine.

Outside of work Sam enjoys cooking, family gatherings and spending time with her kitty Poseidon.  

Tim Filler
Medical Appt Care Manager

Tim is our fully licensed and insured client escort for specialized physician appointments outside of their normal living facilities. 

He advocates our Clients’ needs to physicians/nurses, provides a detailed report of the day’s activities, and cretes a fun, enjoyable environment and has amazing rapport with everyone involved. 

Tim has 10+ years of outstanding client service experience and posesses a laidback ‘aloha personality’ after living in Hawaii for a decade.  He has a passion for photography, family, his gigantic boxer Koa and restoring vintage cars. 

Taco + Goliath
Animal Therapy Caregivers

These two lovable pups are a staple to the KBS Collaborative care management team and we can’t imagine delivering our client experience without them!

The primary passion of our Founder, Kim, is animal rescue… both Taco and Goliath were rescue success stories. They have survived the most unthinkable conditions and now have nothing but love to share. Their calming energy and unconditional affection makes them the ideal therapy companions. Taco and Goliath have helped our team open up the hearts of even the most hard-to-reach clients.
